Toy Drive FAQ

Do I have to pay for shipping?

All toy drive orders ship FREE!  Toy drive orders WILL NOT ship to your personal or business address.  We gather all toys and deliver them to the toy drive in one large shipment.

What toys should I donate to the Toy Drive?

Any toy will do!  There are some cases where a toy drive might not have enough of a particular toy for a certain age group, say tweens, so you may want to keep that in mind or contact your Toy Drive and ask.

Can I order for myself as well?

Of course you can! To place a personal order simply shop online as you normally would, and on the final checkout page just make sure you do NOT have the toy drive selection enabled/checked.
CP24 CHUM Christmas Wish

51st Annual CP24 CHUM Christmas Wish

The CP24 CHUM Christmas Wish program has become one of the largest distributors of toys to children in need in the Greater Toronto Area. The program also provides financial assistance to hundreds of agencies, ensuring that hundreds of thousands of children across the GTA enjoy a holiday experience. In 2016, with the help of The Royal Bank of Canada, LoyaltyOne, as well as the generous donations from our loyal viewers and listeners, the CP24 CHUM Christmas Wish in conjunction with Toronto Social Services assisted approximately 300,000 people in need through toy and financial support.

Ajax Pickering Hospital Foundation

The Ajax Pickering Hospital has a Compassion Fund which is run by the Hospital Foundation Volunteers. The goal of the program is to make our patients feel cared for and comforted during their hospital visit. It is an all year round program providing comfort, happiness and a source of distraction to all patients, children, adults and seniors in all areas of the Hospital. Whether they are in the Emergency, in for a procedure or being admitted for a Hospital stay. The selected item will be given to the patient and it will become part of their personal belongings, it is theirs to keep. Since the patients are usually in a bed and our storage space is limited, the best items chosen are those that are hand held such as cars, action figures for boys and girls, dolls – barbies and others, my little pony, reading books, books with crayons or stickers, crafts, stuffed animals or other such cuddly items etc… The Compassion Fund is a program that makes a big difference to many patients.

Children’s Book Bank

The Children’s Book Bank provides free books and literacy support to children living in low-income neighborhoods across Toronto. Since 2008, the Book Bank has operated a beautiful storefront space located in the Regent Park/St. James Town neighborhood which welcomes school and camp groups as well as families and their children to listen to stories, browse our collection, and choose a favorite book to take home to keep.

The Book Bank has expanded its reach and now provides additional books and literacy materials through community centres, schools, and health clinics in low-income neighbourhoods throughout the city.

In 2016, The Children’s Book Bank gave away 120,000 donated books.

Young Street Mission

Since opening our doors in 1896, The Yonge Street Mission (YSM) has been there, helping people from every walk of life to rise out of poverty. Our roots are embedded in the community, from its first days distributing bread and milk to hungry immigrants to its current role as a beacon of hope for the city’s most vulnerable. Last year, YSM’s Christmas Toy Market helped over 1400 kids in need.

Christmas Cheer Board – Winnipeg

Since the end of WW1 Winnipeg citizens have been preparing food hampers and children’s gifts for the less fortunate in our city.  As we reach our 100th year, we recognize that the need that began as a way to help widows and orphans of the Great War has now grown to include those who may be struggling with their need to  look after themselves and their families as well as newcomers who may have arrived from a country that is no longer safe for them.  Christmas of 2016 saw our organization deliver food hampers to 18,00+ families along with almost 20,000 gifts for children from babies to 14 years old.  We are successful every year because of the grass roots participation of so many individuals, businesses, schools and churches to fund raise, food and toy drive and spend many hours in our warehouse preparing and delivering the hampers.  “Caring and Sharing”.

Toys for Tots

Toys For Tots (Canada) is a Canadian charity based on local partnerships between Canadian Armed Forces, businesses, and concerned citizenry whose sole focus as an organization is to provide toys for children who are in need. We work to address and prevent specific problems faced by families and their supporting charity organizations by providing toys to children who would otherwise go without during a major religious holiday and provide toys throughout the calendar year to local emergency and social agencies to distribute to children during catastrophic circumstances.

We support social service agencies and charities who have direct relationships with the families in need of support. Toys for Tots does NOT accept toy hamper requests directly. We collect toys though donations made at retail partners, media sponsors, and corporate fundraising events. Children’s names come in from our partner agencies, and we sort toys and pack hampers for both individual home deliveries and large bulk packages for distribution before Christmas and throughout the year as requested.

All funds raised are used for purchasing toys, or related supplies, and to cover basic operational expenses related to the toy program. We are a 100% volunteer organization. NOT ONE DONATED DOLLAR GOES TO PAY SALARIES OR ANY OTHER MANPOWER COSTS.
